Arlene….

Does anyone today even remember her?

She was known for a heart shape diamond pendant, a gift from her husband, which she wore on nearly all of her What’s My Line appearances.

A mugger robbed her of the pendant as she was exiting a New York city taxi in 1988.

Taking one day at a time, and enjoying life in the heart of Dixie. People create their own questions because they are afraid to look straight. All you have to do is look straight and see the road, and when you see it, don’t sit looking at it – walk. There are two sides to every issue: one side is right and the other is wrong, but the middle is always evil.

That pendant was a gift from her husband, Martin Gabel.

Reblogged this on A Nine Pound Hammer….or a woman like you, either one of these will do and commented:

She was the world’s most charming woman.

I remember Arlene Francis. And wasn’t the host, Gary Moore?

  4. How sad! A classy, smart lady, full of charm, and beauty. Can you imagine the love, and devotion that she must have had for her husband of forty years, to have worn that pendant for so long, then some scumball, probably needing a small bit of pocket change for beer, or God knows what, takes it from her, and after her husband was gone, and could not replace it. That one beautiful link to the love of a lifetime gone; so very sad! Wonder where it is now? Someone may still have it, and most likely has no idea the love story behind it. That is the wonderful thing about antiques, what secrets they hold, maybe beautiful, maybe like this story bittersweet. Take care Arlene wherever you are!
