Girls and Glads….

Pick the weeds and keep the flowers ~ K. Clarkson

This coming weekend is the world famous Gladiolus Festival held every year in the small farming town of Momence, Illinios.

Located on the banks of the beautiful Kankakee River in Kankakee County, Momence has a population of around 3,000.

This years marks the 75th year of the Gladiolus Festival which first began way back in 1938.

The Festival will take place August 8-12.

Midwest family values and fun. You will not want to miss the Carnival, the Gladiolus Princess and Queen Coronation. You also don’t want to miss the 2 Parades, Music, Concerts, an Antique Car and Giant Craft Show and a 5 and 10K Run.

If your in the area and you get a chance to attend, you won’t regret it. It is a great family .

Taking one day at a time, and enjoying life in the heart of Dixie. People create their own questions because they are afraid to look straight. All you have to do is look straight and see the road, and when you see it, don’t sit looking at it – walk. There are two sides to every issue: one side is right and the other is wrong, but the middle is always evil.

I will be there!! I have many wonderful memories from all of the years of the Glad Festival. It was so much fun as a youth….The parades were much bigger when the Drum Corp show was a part of it….And the floats were quite spectacular when they used to decorate them entirely of Glads, but even on a smaller scale it is still well worth attending, and still a lot of fun…..It brings back my youth every year when I attend…Thanks for the great pictures and description of a small town tradition. 🙂
